- Pay What You Will: Fallen Angels
Thursday, April 30, 2020
Best friends Julia and Jane, now both happily married to others, once counted the dashing Maurice as their lover. Guess who’s back in town and requesting the pleasure of the ladies’ company? Anticipating his appearance, Jane and Julia progressively inebriate themselves, concerned that secrets from their past will be revealed, and ultimately causing a host of antics, in this comedy of manners directed by Resident Acting Company member Andrew Beck. Fallen Angels caused a scandal when it first opened in London in 1925, with its wanton display of open sexuality and its shocking insinuation that average housewives could desire men other than their husbands. This is Coward at his inimitable best, in a champagne cocktail of a story charged with poignance, wit, and charm.
