“We need to have a whole cultural shift, where it becomes our culture to take care of the Earth, and in order to make this shift, we need storytelling about how the Earth takes care of us and how we can take care of her.”
― Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson
Join Bag&Baggage for Climate Change Theatre Action 2021, where we’ll tell stories, learn, and share about creating a culture of caring for the Earth. Part of our ongoing Unpacking the Baggage series, CCTA 2021 features the readings of plays by Javaad Alipoor, Keith Barker, Nicolas Billon, Paula Cizmar, Nathan Ellis, and Peterson Toscano; a panel discussion hosted by local climate organization 350PDX – Washington County Team; the display of a community-created Pandemic Quilt on the theme of Earth and climate, facilitated by the Westside Quilters Guild; and an opportunity to create your own Pandemic Quilt squares with the Lewis & Clark College Art for Social Change Committee. Featured artists: Phillip J. Berns, Cassie Greer, Arianne Jacques, Rae Davis, Alec Lugo, Peter Schuyler, and Lawrence Siulagi.
Climate Change Theatre Action is free to attend, but advance reservations are required; we encourage you to make a donation to 350PDX.
Founded in 2015, Climate Change Theatre Action is a worldwide series of readings and performances of short climate change plays presented biennially to coincide with the United Nations COP meetings. Learn more at http://www.climatechangetheatreaction.com.
Vaccination and Mask Policy:
Bag&Baggage is a member of the Portland Performing Arts Vaccine Coalition. All B&B patrons are required to show proof of full vaccination or negative test certification upon entry to the Vault Theater, and to wear masks for the duration of the performance, regardless of vaccination status.
Upon arrival at the Vault Theater, patrons will be asked to provide a photo or physical copy of their vaccine card, indicating that they have received an FDA authorized vaccine, along with a photo ID. “Fully vaccinated” means the performance date must be at least 14 days after the second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine, or at least 14 days after a single-dose vaccine. Patrons may also provide proof of a COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time, or a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance start time.
