A New Yorker in Oregon: Wednesday Blogs on The Measure of Innocence

Hello! I am Wednesday Sue Derrico, the director of The Measure of Innocence. I had the immense pleasure of coming from my home in New York City this past January to make a home at The Vault Theater. Rehearsals and meetings related to the show filled just about every day- but I made sure to take advantage of my time off to explore some of the gifts that the Portland metro area has to offer. I am so sad to leave!! I will really miss that fresh smell in the air. Here are some of my favorite things I got to experience!

Top 10 things I love about Oregon:

Meadows – the drive from the city, the waterfalls along the way, the AMAZING REAL SNOW!

Boylesque!!! Fulfilled all my wildest dreams….

Bag&Baggage and The Vault Theater – this theater was a welcoming, warm home. I am so grateful to the staff and massive artist family for their care & attention!

Hillsboro Bar & Grill formerly called Joes – Kenny is a champion with such a welcoming smile. I knew I could count on this spot after late-night rehearsals.

pFriem Family Brewers – looking out at the gorge! The most delicious Saison I’ve ever had. #localbeer

Forest Park – Ruby the Vulture greeted my entry to the park. Birdwatching in the mossy brush by the tranquil stream was so relaxing.

The Tao of Tea – this place is out of a fantasy. The food and tea are delicious. I have never received such caring service from waiters.

Carina’s Bakery – a sweet little vegan bakery in Beaverton. Carina is an angel! The food is so good!!

Powell’s Book Shop – could spend hours looking through these shelves! Not to mention the people watching…

(bonus) vegan pizza at Sizzle Pie!
