Victoria Alvarez-Chacon, hails from Sacramento CA, where she studied all aspects of theater on, off, and above the stage. It was Robert “Bob” Irvin at American River College, Theatre professor who first introduced Victoria to the story of Bessie Coleman. His play “Before Amelia” had a lasting effect on her. During Victoria’s acting apprenticeship with Actors Theatre of Louisville, she started to think about untold stories and Bessie just kept coming up again and again. With Bob’s blessing, Victoria developed and performed “Queen Bess”.
