Sumi Wu
She/her/hers

Sumi holds a Bachelor of Arts with distinction from Stanford University. She is a sculptor and designer whose works include large-scale public art commissions in metal and glass. She creates sets, properties and costumes for dance and theatre. Sumi designed original and experimental works with Imago Theatre including the world English language premiere of Yukio Mishima’s Black Lizard. She has built interactive kinetic sculptural sets for dance and opera, including Skinner|Kirk Dance Ensemble’s Burn It Backwards, featuring the songs of Elliot Smith. She is resident properties designer for Oregon Ballet Theatre and PSU’s opera program. She created the set for PSU’s production of Les Mamelles de Tiresias which utilized animal balloons and a lot of helium. Sumi is delighted to be a part of this terrific team.
