Third Person: A Staged Reading

02/17/19 The Vault Theater & Event Space

a new play by Dan Kitrosser

Summary

Third Person is a comedic play about a working-class American family whose patriarch, Buck, is hit by lighting, forever changing the way he interacts with the world. Following the lightning strike, Buck can’t help but narrate his life as it is going on, giving us his internal monologue at every moment, and ultimately divulging family secrets of mayhem and murder. Third Person is a poignant story about the crumbling of the working class family in America, and how the powerful tool of storytelling can help rebuild and reunite us. Written by Dan Kitrosser, directed by Matt Pavik, and featuring a handful of Bag&Baggage favorites in this one-night-only staged reading!

Dan Kitrosser is a playwright and screenwriter who splits his time between Portland, OR and New York City. Dan is a 2016 TimeWarner 150 Fellow, a 2014 Sundance Screenwriting Fellow, a 2014 Harold and Mimi Steinberg Playwriting Fellow, a 2015 TerraNOVA Collective Groundbreaker, a Maryland Filmmakers Fellow, a recipient of the Fringe First Award for Playwriting at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the recipient of a Special Citation from Amnesty International’s Freedom of Expression Awards. Dan has taught playwriting and screenwriting all over the US and is also the founding Artistic Director of Writopia Lab’s Worldwide Plays Festival, a festival of plays written by playwrights ages 6 – 19 from all over the world.
