Dmae Lo Roberts is a two-time Peabody winning Asian American writer and media producer. As a theatre artist, she has won two Drammys, one for her acting and one for her play Picasso In The Back Seat which also won the Oregon Book Award in 1996. Her stage plays have been produced at IFCC, Artists Repertory Theatre, Portland Repertory Theatre, NW Asian American Theatre and East/West Players. In 2014, she co-founded Theatre Diaspora, Oregon’s first and only AAPI theatre, as a project of MediaRites, a nonprofit multicultural production organization, where she is the executive producer. Last year before Pandemic shutdowns, she directed “The Journal of Ben Uchida” at Oregon Children’s Theatre and has co-produced most of Theatre Diaspora’s (which is now its own nonprofit organization) readings and full productions. She recently produced and directed three short films for MediaRites’ The –Ism Project which will debut soon.
