We’re up to our eyeballs in productions and rehearsals and planning for the future over here, and you’ve probably heard our exciting news – but just in case you haven’t, I’ll dive right in!
Murdock Grant Received
The trustees of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust have reviewed the grant we submitted to them for our EVOLUTION project, and have decided to award us the full $250,000 of our request! This is huge for our company and our Campaign – to be given a hearty nod of support by such a major, highly-regarded Trust – and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Thanks to all of you who have helped position our Campaign in a way that reflected its quality, value, and energy to Murdock!
Having received support from Murdock has major implications for our EVOLUTION Campaign – the most important of which is our ability to begin construction several months ahead of schedule. We have met with our project team – the incredible people at Opsis Architecture and Rainier Pacific Development – and our Board of Directors has approved our new construction timeline which begins on November 1! Needless to say, this throws us into a bit of upheaval as we prepare to move our offices and rehearsals to a temporary location at the end of October, and we’re so grateful that our downtown neighbors at All Saints Episcopal Church have agreed to host us during construction.
Lagunitas Pinewood Derby at McNally’s
Amid all of this excitement, we’re continuing to plug away at the rest of our fundraising. We have roughly $87,000 left to raise from our individual donors, and our neighbors at McNally’s Taproom helped us out this month by making us the beneficiaries of their Pinewood Derby Fundraiser. Thanks to everyone who bought cars, came out to race, and threw a little extra in the hat for Bag&Baggage! And a special congrats to Tennegon, the big winner of the day!
The Graduate Opening and Baggage Claim Launch
Oh, and we opened a show a week and a half ago! “The Graduate” has been receiving excellent reviews, and runs through October 2 at The Venetian. We took advantage of opening night to launch our Baggage Claim Campaign, where you can buy – and personally tag – a piece of vintage luggage for the walls of our new lobby space for $150. You can find all of the details here. There are only 150 pieces of luggage available – and we’ve already sold 19 in the first week – so if you’d like to leave your personal mark on our lobby space, don’t wait too long!
We’re so excited and grateful – and a touch overwhelmed – as all of our plans are moving closer and closer to becoming our reality. Thank you for all of your continued support – we wouldn’t be here without you, and we’re so glad you’re along with us on this journey. Full speed ahead!
