The Season Approaches An End…
A New One Begins!

Dear EVOLUTION donors,

We wrap up our eighth season at the end of next weekend, with the conclusion of Jane Austen’s Emma, and we dive into rehearsals for next season’s opener, Coriolanus, the very next day. That seems to be a solid metaphor for almost everything we’ve been doing here at Bag&Baggage lately: finish one project and launch immediately into the next. The work is never done, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Our EVOLUTION Campaign is no exception, as we are simultaneously celebrating how far we’ve come, and looking ahead to that $1.4 million mark, trying to figure out how we can get there even faster. Your generous support has gotten us to this point, but we can’t let up now! We have a major grant review coming up in July, and our chances of receiving these key funds are dramatically increased if we are able to hit our individual giving target of $650,000 by that point. We’ve got about $100,000 left to raise until we reach that number, so we’re asking you, our most avid supporters, to help us out: introduce your friends to Bag&Baggage, talk to your employer about corporate giving, share our Bits&Pieces with those family members who are addicted to online shopping – anything you do to spread the word about our work and ourCampaign helps us take one more step in the right direction!

Here are a few exciting Campaign-related things that have happened in the past several weeks…

WCVA Support

We just learned this week that our EVOLUTION Campaign has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Washington County Visitors Association! We’re thrilled to have the support of the WCVA, and honored that they’ve recognized the role that B&B plays in driving the cultural tourism not only of Hillsboro, but of Washington County as a whole. Thank you, WCVA, for supporting our future!

Outstanding Project Winner

The entire 4th Main project, of which our new building is a part, was one of four Outstanding Projects awarded this month by the 2016 Oregon Brownfields Conference, recognizing redevelopment success across the state. We’ve always been honored to receive the visionary support of the City of Hillsboro, Metro, and Tokola Properties, and we’re so excited that this forward-thinking project has now also been recognized by Business Oregon with this award!

Rotary Foundation Support

The Rotary Foundation of the Hillsboro Rotary Club – whose members have already been incredible supporters of our project – put up a $5,000 matching donation challenge to Rotarians this spring, and I’m so happy to report that this $5,000 in donations from club members has already been reached! Thank you to the Rotary, and to those of you who contributed as part of this challenge. We are incredibly grateful for your support!

Phase III Update

We’re officially over 2/3 of the way to selling all of our available “Take A Seat” chairs, with only 41 seats left. If you’ve been thinking about buying a chair for yourself or in memory of a loved one, don’t miss your chance! We are also nearly out of toilet seats over on the Bits&Pieces side of things, and still have a bunch of other fun items available to help fill out our new space over on the Bits&Pieces site!. Join our Facebook event  for weekly videos and updates, and to stay tuned in to all of ourEVOLUTION-related goings on!

We couldn’t do any of this without you, and are so glad to have you along with us on this journey. Thanks for your continued presence and support as we push ahead!
