EVOLUTION Update – August 24, 2016

Dear EVOLUTION donors,

I don’t know if you’re like me, but I just spent every free evening I had these past couple of weeks binge-watching the Olympics from Rio. And just when I start to lament the lack of world-class athleticism and excitement in my life, I remember that what we’re doing at Bag&Baggage is not only pretty thrilling, but we also have an amazing block of supporters and cheerleaders in you, our donors. Thank you for being not only spectators, but participants in our success, and continuing to root for us along the way! Here’s what we’ve been up to (aside from Olympics-watching) with the EVOLUTION Campaign this past month…

Healthy Business Workshop

We loved having the opportunity to connect with our friends at Hook SEO and The Professional Collective, learn about the cool stuff that Hillsboro small businesses are doing in our community, and talk with everyone about Bag&Baggage and our work and growth. Thanks to the Healthy Business Workshop organizers for selecting us as the non-profit partner for the event, and for donating the evening’s silent auction proceeds to our Capital Campaign!

Cabaret Improv

We were thrilled to have a packed house for our inaugural Cabaret Improv night at the end of July, and to bring in over $800 towards our EVOLUTION! Thanks to all of you who came out to laugh, play, donate, and cheer us on! We’ve got another Cabaret Improv in the works for Saturday, October 8th, so stay tuned for more info…

Theatre Chairs Sold Out!

As excited as we are about Improv, we’re even more excited to announce that we have successfully concluded our Take A Seat Campaign, selling all 144 of the chairs for our new theatre! A huge thank you to those of you who purchased a chair (or two or three) and helped us reach our $36,000 goal!

If you’re feeling a little sad that you missed out on the chairs, or are looking for another way to leave your personal mark on our new theatre building, don’t worry! We’re getting ready to launch our next mini-campaign on opening night of “The Graduate” – Friday, September 9th. We’re calling this one our “Baggage Claim” Campaign, and it involves the creative use of suitcases in our lobby and public spaces… Plan to join us at the building after the opening night show to learn more, or check our EVOLUTION web site after the 9th!

The Graduate Opens September 8th

With “The Graduate” rehearsals in full swing, and our production team already digging deeply into “The Drowning Girls”, we’re excited to dive into our last full season on stage at The Venetian! At the same time, we can’t wait to be in our own space, and are eager to get through this last little push in our fundraising. With just over $85,500 left to raise from individual contributors, YOU can help us get there by introducing your friends to Bag&Baggage, buying us little Bits&Pieces here and there, or talking to your coworkers or employer about coordinating a gift.

Again, we can’t thank you enough for the incredible support you’ve already given – and continue to give to us; this finish line would be nowhere in sight without you! As always, please feel free to be in touch with any thoughts, questions, feedback, or ideas. I look forward to seeing you around the theatre this fall!
